Lovrenc na Pohorju (Oct. 2011): CESLA project presentation at Lovrenc na Pohorju Elementary School

The CESLA project partners (UM-FERI and TECES) visited Lovrenc na Pohorju Elementary School during the Children’s Week on 6 October 2011. Pupils of the classes 7A, 8A, 8B and the 9th grade, who had mathematics and physics with professor Leo Čelofiga in their timetable participated in the workshops, which were carried out in two 20 minutes sets.

Within the CESLA project presentation, the pupils in the classroom were first presented the notion of the energy efficient use in traffic and how ultra-light electric vehicles could contribute to this. To illustrate the electric power importance in the traffic sector, we talked with them about electric energy, where it can be stored and which sources of energy we knew.

To become acquainted with ultra-light electric vehicles technology, the practical part of the workshop was carried out in the school playground. The pupils filled in worksheets with energy and electric vehicles topics, and carried out demonstration drives with electric bikes, electric scooter and electric motor scooter.

At the end of the workshop, the pupils were asked for a written feedback to the workshop. The given feedback will provide us with an overview about the knowledge and the interest of the children of the age of the participating pupils and their assessment on the workshop implementation.

Wishing that in future the pupils would several times encroach on more ecological way of transport, and hoping that the CESLA team has contributed to this, in thanks and safe way into traffic we awarded the pupils reflection stripes.

We render thanks to the entire staff of Lovrenc na Pohorju Elementary School, and particularly to the professor of mathematics Mr. Leo Čelofiga, who nicely received us and provided for undisturbed course of the workshops. Thanks also to the Headmistress Ms. Marija Osvald Novak for the invitation to participate. She enabled the CESLA project team to present itself and fulfil its purpose to implement ultra-light electric vehicles into the environment.
